May,2009 Bowling Championship Dateline.. May 23rd., 2009 Sherri Lees' Lounge Electronic Bowling. Few people knew much about it..heck, few people even knew it existed. I only met up with it a few years ago when a friend said let's go bowling. " I don't have a ball". " You won't need one." And that's how it started. I bowled on an electronic machine and loved it. My company was placing these machines in different locations and I was to create an Electronic Bowling League useing these machines. I did and the craze began. Many folks love it and are playing on them in the Lounges and Clubs today. That's the history of our Bowling League formation. But enough history. Today, we're here at the Sherri Lees' to find out who the best team in our Southeast Bowling Association is when the chips are down. We have 9 teams shooting for the bragging rights and First , Second and Third place money which will go the 3 best teams of the day. Their matched up to play on 4 different Bowling machines and hopefully none of the machines will give us any trouble. The tournament began with 9 teams who all played their hearts out and did their very best. But as the dust settled we were left with the 2 who wanted it the most; "The Juggernauts" who were the only undefeated team left, and "Sherri Lees' HMFICS" who battled back through the loosers' bracket to match up with the Juggernauts for 1st. Place honors. By now it was late and both teams were very tired after playing for around 9 hours. The first match was a close one with Shari Lees' winning it. As they began to discuss the upcoming second match, they decided among themselves to split the money, as is often the case between teams who have played all day, and call it a night. They were tired. Another match would run another hour and a half ." Enough they said let's go home." My hats off to all 9 teams for playing in the best tournament we've ever had. I thank Sherri Lees' for hosting a wonderful tournament that received, and is still receiving, praise for the food, the atmosphere and everything else that makes these tournaments great. I wanna thank the 9 teams for their participation in the tournament and hope they all had a great time. We are beginning the upcoming season on June 1st. I'm looking forward to having all of our past seasons' teams sign up to play again and hopefully some new ones will come aboard as well. Well. It's time to sign off. Here's hoping to hear from all of you on our new Websites at Facebook and/or My Space. MDA League Banquet..2009 Dateline: Feb. 7th., 2009 "I'm in Paradise". "Wrong. Your in the Paradise Lounge which is even better. They serve drinks here. You guessed it. It's that time of year again. The time when all of the MDA players gather together for the shoot-out banquet to be held at one of the Leagues' favorite watering holes. This season the participants have chosen The Paradise Lounge to cross Dart tips and do Dart battle against one another. Many play all season for this opportunity, just to shoot with and against the best in their league to see if they can upset their Apple Cart and come out victorious in this prestigious event. A blind draw, double elimination format sets the stage for this contest; and, as has happened 1 or 2 times in the past, 2 teams, with players not usually seen in the final showdown, are about to test their skills, and their nerves, against one another. (Les Richardson jr. and Michelle Harper) are trying to turn up the heat against (Lincoln Graham and Rick Eberly). The first round of their confrontation is a heated one with Les and Michelle edging out their opponents. This creates a second match up because now both teams have been defeated once. As they begin to play, both teams are good, but tense. This is the kind of contest you wish both teams could win, but with only one allowed in the winners circle, the hard fought battle that often accompanies these contest was in full swing today. Through the screaming, the throwing and the anticipation the team coming from behind, Michelle and Les won the Match with a Dart Shot heard round the world, their world anyway. I'm thrilled to have been a part of this Tournament and if you missed it, I'm sorry for ya. You missed a good one. I'd like to thank the 18 teams who participated in this great event, and The Paradise Lounge for hosting this shin-dig. We couldn't of done it without ya. Well. Here’s me signing off and saying " See ya next time.". Harry Ramsey......League coordinator. CHECK OUT THESE PHOTOS TAKE A LOOK ! | Posted by hramsey on Thursday 19 February 2009 - 17:02:44
MDA City Championship..2008-2009 Dateline....January 31, 2009 "Gimme that Trophy"; "Come an take it". Harsh communications such as these took place as the Mobile Dart Association City Championship began it's seasonal rivalry. The location: A new one. LNL lounge in 8-Mile chose to be the host of the Dart slugfest for the 2008-2009 winter match-up. Eight teams showed up to play with the previous seasons champs.."Bar Room Athletes"..sharpening their darts for whomever might get in their way. Even though a board went out the competition flowed along smoothly without incedent, until the two final competitors squared off eye to eye. It was a great finish to a great season and when the final dart was thrown, "Knight Shooters" who had led from the beginning edged out "Bar Room Athletes" in an exciting fight to the finish. My many thanks to th LNL Lounge for providing us with a great location and great hospitality. I would also like to thank the eight teams who showed up to play for their particiapation. So. As the sun sets in the West, I wish you all good darts, and my hopes that this economy will turn around and be good for all of us...... Until that time CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS HERE ! | Posted by hramsey on Thursday 19 February 2009 - 12:12:02
